Warranty tracker for appliances and electronics

A warranty you can't prove is a warranty you don't have. EntryNest keeps the purchase date, the cover length and the receipt together — and warns you before the window closes.

  • Free reminder 30 days before the warranty ends
  • Store receipts and proof of purchase securely
  • Track extended warranties and service plans separately

The two things every claim needs

Almost every warranty claim requires proof of purchase and a serial or model number. Thermal-paper receipts fade to blank within a couple of years — often before the cover they prove has even expired.

Photographing the receipt on the day of purchase and storing it against the item solves this permanently. Add the model and serial number in the reference field while the box is still in front of you.

Claim before the deadline, not after the failure

Appliances have a habit of failing just outside their cover. A reminder a month before expiry gives you time to run the thing properly, notice an intermittent fault, and raise it while the manufacturer is still obliged to act.

For anything expensive, that one email is often the difference between a free repair and a full replacement cost.

Extended warranties and service plans

Extended cover usually starts when the manufacturer's warranty ends, runs on a separate contract, and sometimes renews automatically at a price nobody reviews. Boiler and appliance service plans behave the same way.

Track those as their own items with their own renewal dates so you can decide each year whether the cover is still worth the premium.

What's worth tracking

Anything above roughly the cost of a weekend away: laptops and phones, white goods, boilers, televisions, power tools, e-bikes, furniture with a structural guarantee, and building work covered by a workmanship guarantee.

Group them under Home or Electronics in EntryNest and you'll have a single inventory that doubles as useful documentation for a contents insurance claim.

A worked example: a washing machine bought on 12 March with two years' cover

Warranty claims fail on paperwork far more often than on eligibility. Capturing three things on the day of purchase — the date, the serial number and the receipt — is what makes a claim two years later straightforward.

  1. 12 March, purchase dayAdd the item with an expiry of 12 March two years later. Photograph the receipt and the rating plate showing model and serial number, then upload both.
  2. Any time cover is liveIf the machine behaves oddly, open the item, check you're inside cover, and report the fault straight away rather than waiting to see if it worsens.
  3. 10 February (30 days out)Reminder email. Run a hot cycle, check for leaks, noise and error codes, and raise anything intermittent while the manufacturer is still obliged to act.
  4. 12 March, expiryDecide deliberately whether an extended plan is worth the premium — with the purchase price and repair history in front of you, not from a cold-call script.
