Travel Insurance for Canada Visitors

Canada does not require general visitor travel insurance, but health care for non-residents is expensive and uninsured visits can result in major bills. The Super Visa (for parents and grandparents) does have a mandatory insurance requirement.

What your policy needs to cover

  • Recommended: medical coverage of at least CAD 100,000.
  • Super Visa applicants: minimum CAD 100,000 medical coverage, valid for at least 1 year, issued by a Canadian-recognised insurer (Super Visa changes from 2022 onward).
  • Coverage for medical care, hospitalisation, and repatriation.
  • Optional: trip cancellation, baggage loss, and rental car protection.
